Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is British Gymnastics Membership/Insurance?

British Gymnastics (BG) Insurance is a separate payment to your annual membership fee. After 2 weeks of your child attending classes, parents will recieve an email containing a link that will take you to the BG website where you can join or renew your childs  insurance. This insurance will need to be renewed every year and will cover your  child should they have an unforseen accident within their classes. British Gymnastics is our governing body and therefore this insurance is mandatory for all members attending weekly sessions.

  • When do we have to pay the termly fees by?

Our payment system operates on a bi-monthly basis, with fees charged every two months. Each term is billed on the 8th of the last month of the previous term, and payments are due by the 22nd of that month. If payment cannot be made by this date, please contact us via email to arrange an alternative payment schedule.

All class enrollment is on a rolling basis meaning current gymnasts are guaranteed a space in the next term. If your child wishes to discontinue their gymnastics classes, kindly inform us via admin@penryngymnastics.co.uk.

  • My child has never done gymnastics before, where should they start?

For children who are new to gymnastics, the best starting point is typically a General Level 1 class. These classes are specifically designed to accommodate beginner gymnasts, providing them with the foundational skills and techniques needed to progress in the sport.

  • What is the difference between Pre School Play and Structured Pre-School Classes?

The distinction between our preschool play sessions and structured preschool classes lies in their focus and format. Our preschool play sessions offer an open environment where children aged 0 to 5 can freely explore the gym, interact with the equipment, and engage in unstructured play. In contrast, structured preschool classes involve organized activities led by instructors, focusing on developing specific gymnastics skills and coordination in a guided setting.

  • When is a good time to move to a General Level 2 Class?

Your child has the flexibility to transition to a General Level 2 class whenever they feel inclined to deepen their involvement in gymnastics and enhance their skill set. We encourage this progression as they become more confident and eager to develop their abilities further. Please note most of our General Level 2 classes have a waiting list.

  • What will my child need to wear for their gymnastics lesson?

Children attending recreational gymnastics classes are welcome to wear shorts/leggings and a t-shirt, although leotards are optional. However, competitive gymnasts are required to wear leotards during training sessions, with boys also wearing shorts over their leotards. Please also make sure that they come with a water bottle, ready for their session!

For those interested in purchasing leotards, orders can be placed through Dragonfly Leotards, and they can be picked up from Penryn Gymnastics Centre. Visit https://www.dragonflyleotards.com/ for more information.

  • Who should I speak to about a concern or safeguarding issue

If you have any concerns or welfare issues, please feel free to approach any member of our staff. Sally serves as our designated welfare officer and is readily available to assist you with any concerns or issues you may have, you can contact her on sally@penryngymnastics.co.uk. • How do the make up sessions work?

We provide makeup sessions for all recreational classes to accommodate missed sessions due to sickness or other reasons. If your child misses a session, they can attend a makeup session in a different class. Sessions can be booked via the customer portal, if you have any issues we can help you with this at reception. It's important to note that each child is entitled to only one makeup session per term, even if they've missed multiple sessions.

  • How do I buy my child's badge?

Congratulations on your child passing their badge! To purchase their badge, simply visit our website or app's customer portal, navigate to the store, and search for recreational badges. Choose the level indicated on the slip of paper they received in class. If your child didn't bring home the slip, they may not have passed this time, but don't worry—they'll have another chance in the next testing session.
